Does GOD exist?
Proof is not necessary
As a former Christian, my life’s work is about trying to reach those who still believe yet have their doubts: the fence sitters, so to speak. These are generally people who, like me, went to church for decades, studied the Bible, paid attention to every sermon, yet still knew something wasn’t quite right.
The conflict that lives within is my target: my work is to help break free those who have lived a life of mental imprisonment and impairment. My hope is that by dissecting the Bible in ways they have not seen before, I might break the spell of indoctrination cast over them.
This piece came from a recent conversation on Facebook. A woman named Lydia asked the following question:
“What evidence is there that proves He doesn’t [exist]?”
And my answer.
I can’t provide you evidence [that] your god does not exist, but I’m willing to bet I can make you damned uncomfortable about worshipping ‘him.’
First, I must assume you are a Christian, and believe in the God of the Bible, since you refer to that in your post. What you ‘believe’ in is your own concept of God and Jesus, not what the Bible actually says about them.
The Gospel of John proclaims: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.” John 1:1-3
The church has declared since Nicaea that Jesus is in fact one with God.
Jesus said it himself: “I and the Father are one.” John 10:30
Jesus also commanded his followers to not cherry-pick parts of the Bible, but that “‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Mt. 4:4
So, tell me then, why—if Christians ‘believe’ that Jesus is the Word of God, that all things were made through Jesus, and that Jesus is in fact God—why don’t they accept what the Bible says about Jesus in the Old Testament?
Here is Jesus in the Old Testament:
“This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.’ ” 1 Samuel 15: 2,3
If Jesus is God, and God/Jesus killed ‘children and babies’ what does that say about Jesus?
You worship your own idea of Jesus, not the Word of God that PROVES Jesus is the killer of ‘children and babies.’
I don’t need to prove he exists: I used your own Bible to prove he’s a baby killer.
I was surprised and hopeful at her response:
“I would love to discuss this sometime.”
The fact that she might want to discuss this gives me hope for the future, hope in that there are still people who seek the truth, not just accept blindly what they’ve been told.
I understand how tough it is to give up on one’s faith: I, too, was a Christian—for 58 years—and didn’t see myself ever leaving the faith nor doubting God, the church, or any sermon.
That all changed slowly as I began to see those who called themselves Christians—as I believed I was—continuing to support the pure evil of Donald Trump: I could not reconcile how anyone who claimed to love Jesus could also believe Trump was a good guy. I spent months trying to unravel this, and the deeper I went, the more I felt like Neo in “The Matrix.”
I discovered that not only was Christianity a lie, but that I was living it.
If, like me, you’ve ever questioned your faith, read “Can you Believe the Bible?” then take a long, hard look at what you believe—and why.
Most of us discover that what we believe is what someone taught us at an early age—usually before we know our ABCs. The seed of Christianity is planted in our juvenile minds long before we develop the ability to think rationally, and that one fact makes it next-to-impossible to give up on the faith, even in the face of overwhelming evidence against it.
I can’t prove any god exists or doesn’t exist: my intention is to reveal the truth behind the Christian faith—truth that you may have never seen before—in the hopes that like me, you will finally be free.

I’m so glad I tripped over your article/book by now?
Hope so as I know I know it’s right on time.
I was never forced to have religion in my life as a Catholic as my mother had been taught but my grandmother would be the last of the devout / I’m from a big family so many are still church going but none highly religious and o think my parents were not devoted in any way but wonderful ppl, living and caring with no hint of any hard core rules so very cool I’d call strict with love just for my moms sanity in with 7 in a bungalow lol
Where it came to religion we were no addicts as she steered us to attended basic Sunday school and mass early on because expected so Catechism twice a week then mass as we aged were dropped off on Sat - then slowly made bed to just Sunday school and then by ohh gr.6? Being all close in age we did not have to attended and none of the five of us did.
And I think 1 may still do mass due to his wife from a more religious fam but think it’s only holidays like Xmas midnight mass for some reason lol
It took me many decades to question the fact of whether God was a patriarchal man made and created for control period. The older I got I found myself brave enough to consider myself an atheist - my son at 20 said he was and o was surprised not shocked and later he moved back into it I say do to feeling detached from the inlaws so there’s that and now I’m the atheist and he’s not practicing it’s in name only / just like I find myself saying my prayers I know off heart to my dead parents mainly because it makes me feel close spiritually as I fall asleep - not always but sometimes it comes to mind.
And call myself that when ppl ask if I believe in God like a yes/no .. nothing more counts lol
However ! When I found (tripped over again;) a science write up like a new drug had been discovered - that said bones were found long before God and explained how - in order to prove anything scientifically a THEORY must be proven and in order to have one verified it cannot be called a theory to be true so that meant many theories can be discussed but not without the given the Theoretical EVIDENCE required for facts to be the Fact (sorry I don’t have the article ) but because of the bones they explained found now that archeologically avails deeper digs - it is now safe to say THAT becomes a TRUE THEORY THAT IS ALL A MYTH and also takes care of the Conception versus EVOLUTION !
And makes all the rest make sense like the dots connect as kids find out they don’t soon enough!
Cognitive thinking can help if not too late for the religion addicts but the dissonance is deeply embedded and sadly fear the truth for that reason.
I cannot imagine how cruel it must feel to find out their whole life under a cruel god they had to dress up as a good pure soul once they read the first version of a tyrant lord be.
Eek!
And to think just how bad men can be is beyond comprehension so now they cling harder and colder around those who accept the Facts and what it’s the trump agenda - and when he said “do not believe anything you see or hear”
I was stunned - and the other one that told me MAGA was real was his clinic comment again - the first eye opener dailies lol was to his new base and I quite - “I love the uneducated” and they all rose in a clap.
I knew we were in big trouble.
It takes years of not decades to debrief and reprogram the human mind - like any drug they have to want to unlearn and the public presser by the religion addicts cult society to feel they belong is just staggering but I think there’s hope in this the 21ST CENTURY as we try to leapfrog beyond the first quarter already - lol so I’m happy to hear this one will be moving very much faster as we recalibrate the big system defrag to get ourselves all realigned for a future that took the last half century into a trickle down rabbit hole.
Where capitalism finally eats their own lol 😉😎
